Chantix
THE PROBLEM WITH CHANTIX.
Chantix, a Pfizer drug marketed and prescribed to help persons stop smoking, may cause drug users to have suicidal ideations and violent mood swings, not warned of by Pfizer. Chantix was approved by FDA in May 2006 as a smoking cessation drug. Chantix acts at sites in the brain affected by nicotine and may help those who wish to stop smoking by providing some nicotine effects to ease the withdrawal symptoms and by blocking the effects of nicotine from cigarettes if users resume smoking.
Reports show that Pfizer may have negligently concealed, oppressed or omitted warnings about side effects, which have caused serious injury and death to users. Specifically, original warnings and side effects for Chantix lacked any notice about suicidal ideations and other psychiatric side effects.
Otherreports, including from Fox News and Bloomberg, report complications with Chantix. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ground order for all pilots who take Chantix, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration appears to have similarly placed a ban on Chantix because the medication may adversely affect the driver’s ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.”

Certain side effects to pay attention to include:
- suicidal ideations
- depression

- potentially lethal cardiac rhythm disturbances
- acute myocardial infarction
- seizures
- diabetes
- psychosis.
